Northwest Florida Realtor: September 2009

The first dinner when mom arrived her in Crestview was Guglielmo's aka CIao Bella

The first place I wanted to take my mom was the new location

Guglielmo's Italian Grill & Pizza

 - guglielmositaliangrill.com - (850) 682-2002

This is from the same people that bring you the great Ciao Bella which I had visited all the time in Niceville. It is great to have a nice place to dine at night on old historic Main Street now. This is one I have been to a few times already since they had open this year. I have notice it is doing very well while other places are closed up at night there is always lights on and a full house everytime I go to Gugliemlmo's. This just to me proves if you bring a nice eatery to Crestview you will do well.

Kind of doing a short food review this week it seems for the Northwest Florida area

Now I have been to most of the pizza places in the area and I have to throw a mention on here about a great place I visited last month in SanDestin area. Fat Clemenza's Pizzeria italiana. They have a warm set up when you walk in it has some sports on the TV whatever might be in season. You have the brick oven front and center. They make a great crust and use a good cheese you can tell good quaility when you taste the mix of sauce and cheese. I like the right amount of sauce on my pizza and a good crust taste. To make a complete pizza you need a good sauce and not to skip out or skim the sauce. This is one to stop by if you have not been yet.

Check out some of these other great diner places to visit while in our area

Melting Pot Destin and Miramar Beach

While in Destin if your are vacationing make sure to stop by the donut hole

While in Destin if your are vacationing make sure to stop by the donut hole

I just stopped by last week on the way to doing a BPO. I try to limit myself to visiting once every few months at most.

This place makes great dishes but the homemade bake goods are some of the best around. They make everything fresh everyday. The size portions are unlike anything you see around Destin. The bear claw's have a basic covering that consits of an apple pie like topping. They make a great Rice Krispie treat. When I go I like to get the Banana Pancakes dish. You will want to get a to go box and make sure to try the muffins they make you will not be sorry.

Frommer's Review

Available round-the-clock, breakfasts at this popular spot include eggs Benedict, fluffy biscuits under sausage gravy, Belgian waffles, and freshly baked doughnuts. Lunch choices are deli sandwiches, half-pound burgers, and big salads. Daily specials are a bargain. The rough-hewn building has both booths and counter seating. Be prepared to wait out on the deck, especially on weekends. There's another Donut Hole in southern Walton County, on U.S. 98 E. 2 1/2 miles east of the Sandestin Beach Resort (tel. 850/267-3239); it's open daily from 6am to 10pm.

Melting Pot Destin and Miramar Beach

I had past it many times but until this past Friday had never been to the Melting Pot. I knew what kind of a place it was with foundue as the main deal. I was suprised how nice it was with the selection of a wine list that was six pages, It is great if your looking for a glass of wine. They have a separate desert menu which is always my favorite. I would suggest if you go that you try to original chocolate fondue. Which is a mix of milk chocolate and peanut butter foundue. The dippers selection with rice krispies, banana, strawberries, marshmallow.and cheesecake.

The waiters are great to go over all items that they are putting in and how the mix complements each other. They give you clear directions on how hot the fondue gets and how long to cook the items that are dippers. It is a worth the trip kind of a place. They change the theme of the menu every quarter. I am planning to go back to try the Mozarella in the Italian theme.
