Avoiding Sunshine Law controversy in Okaloosa County FL

With state's attorney general in the news with cases like state Rep. Ray Sansom and Northwest Florida State College.

Walton County lawsuit still in the news cycle attorney Matt Gaetz filed a complaint April 16 on behalf of Suzanne Harris, president of the Edgewater Beach Owners' Association in Santa Rosa Beach.

 

Santa Rosa County's commissioners have become the latest with three present and two former commissioners having been implicated in activities.

The steps annoucned this week makes me think that Okaloosa County knows A state-mandated records-keeping manual requires every agency to document what its files contain, how its public records may be accessed and used, and how they may be updated, added and deleted from the system.Okaloosa County's custodian is risk manager James Taylor.

In an announcement this week Okaloosa County Administrator Jim Curry stated he does not want the same type of sunshine law violation complaints in his county that Santa Rosa is facing. Curry had a discussion about maintaining and providing public records created on private e-mail accounts at last  Tuesday's Okaloosa County Commission meeting.
