Brandon - While the S & L crisis brought about the failure of hundreds more banks/financial institutions, the dollar amount this time around is significantly greater.  And, we're far from finished.

John thanks for the post you are right that things could get worse before they get better. The point I was trying to get across is that we have been thru this before with the number of bank closings and failed banks. You can see in the post link below I had talked about the FDIC raised their reserve by 55 percent for the upcoming year.

I need to spend some time doing inflation adjusted numbers.  I know that WAY more banks closed...  And I know that politicians hand their hands WAY involved...
