Bosh in Beijing
Chris Bosh will make his Olympic debut in Beijing. He helped the U.S. to an 8-1 record and the bronze medal at the 2006 World Championships, where he made his senior national team debut. At the tournament, Bosh averaged 6.8 points and 4.0 rebounds while shooting a team-best 65.4 percent from the field. He finished the tournament ranked sixth in field goal shooting percentage. Bosh missed the 2007 summer with U.S. because of plantar fasciitis in his left foot.

Not head of the class
A part of the much-heralded NBA draft class of 2003, Bosh has yet to receive the same amount of attention bestowed upon three of the other top five picks from that year: LeBron James (No. 1), Carmelo Anthony (No. 3) and Dwyane Wade (No. 5), all of whom will be in Beijing. Bosh was selected with the fourth overall pick by the Toronto Raptors, and being in Canada may have affected his celebrity status in the States. But his numbers are worthy of praise: Through five years he's averaging 18.9 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, with a career year in 2006-07 when he put up career bests of 22.6 points and 10.7 rebounds. Bosh has been an All-Star selection each of the past three years.

Freshman phenom
Bosh played just one year of college ball at Georgia Tech (2002-03) before entering the NBA. He started 31 games for the Yellow Jackets, averaging 15.6 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.2 blocks a game, which put him on the 2003 Freshman All-America team selected by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association. The 2003 Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year, Bosh led the conference in field goal percentage (.560), which put him aside Antawn Jamison as the only freshmen ever to accomplish the feat. That year Bosh also led the ACC in blocked shots (67) and was second in rebounding (278).

All-Americas abound
While playing for Lincoln High School in Dallas, Bosh was named to the 2002 Parade Magazine All-American First Team, Basketball America All-American first team and USA Today All-American Second Team. Also a McDonald's All-American, Bosh averaged 20.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.0 blocked shots as a senior, leading Lincoln to a 40-0 record, the No. 1 national ranking by USA Today, and to the Texas state championship.
